- Event : This is Home by The Picha Project
- Date : 3 – 18 Nov 2018, 10am -10pm.
Closed on Mondays
- Venue : Urbanscapes House – Second Floor
This is Home is an immersive and experential exhibition that highlights the life journey of refugees to increase understanding and awareness among the public towards this global humanitarian crisis. Step into the shoes of a refugee to get a glimpse of how home looked like before the war broke out, their journey to Malaysia and how home in Kuala Lumpur is like now.
Some other highlights include stories woven into a newspaper spread by comic artist Wei Hao, a souvenir shop featuring hand-stitched bags by Sew X Dignity, delicious Afghan and Iraqi food products, and an artisan jewellery exhibition by Earth Heir. All items are made by Malaysia’s refugee community. On the weekends, there’ll be heaps of activities – hair cuts and hairstyling by refugee teens from Cut X Dignity, E-lluminate Board Games sessions and bottle plant pot upcycling workshops.
This is Home is the first exhibition of its kind in Malaysia, and we’re proud to premeire it at Urbanscapes 2018. This is Home is organised by The Picha Project in collaboration with Dignity for Children, E-lluminate and Earth Heir. It is made possible by Think City.
