Sofia Haron is a Penang-born Malaysian visual artist, raised in KL. She began her artistic journey at the tender age of three, where her inspirations came from Japanese video games, manga, and anime. Thereon, she participated in many art competitions for TV commercials, school, magazines, and newspapers. Sofia’s decision to pursue art after her secondary school graduation was a natural calling. She enrolled to Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) initially to study Industrial Design, however fate led her to Fine Art. She became a Fine Art advocate ever since. She was one of the lucky few to get the experience of exhibiting her works to the public as an undergraduate in UiTM. That was when she started her journey as a visual artist. Specialising in mixed media materials, Sofia’s works evolved throughout the years while she experimented with different techniques. She completed her six-month residency programme with Sembilan, by displaying her art in a joint exhibition called Pancaroba. Her oil painting, Rest Deeply, is the largest piece in the Pancaroba exhibition.
